The community helps address housing needs for households earning between 30% to 70% AMI
LAKEWOOD, WA — DevCo Residential Group and its affiliates, DevCo Development, Heartland Construction, and HNN Communities, recently celebrated the grand opening of Kendrick Landing Apartments, a new 245-unit affordable housing community located in Lakewood, approximately 10 miles south of Tacoma. Kendrick Landing is fully affordable, serving households earning between 30% and 70% of the Area Median Income (AMI).
Kendrick Landing was developed by DevCo Development, construction led by Heartland Construction, and property management by HNN Communities. The event marked the completion of DevCo’s first development in the Lakewood market and brought together residents, project partners, stakeholders, and community members to celebrate the addition of new affordable housing built to serve the greater Tacoma region.
The grand opening celebration featured brief remarks from project stakeholders, guided property tours, and an official ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the completion of the community.
“Projects like Kendrick Landing require years of coordination from our teams and meaningful support from lenders and investors to complete,” said Joseph Launceford, Development Manager at DevCo Residential Group. “Providing affordable housing to the Lakewood community, especially housing with easy access to public transportation, is a goal we’re proud of accomplishing alongside our partners.”
Family-Focused, Affordable Housing in Lakewood
Kendrick Landing offers a mix of one-, two-, three-, and four-bedroom apartment homes. Approximately one-third of available units are three- or four-bedroom units, helping meet the demand for high-quality, affordable housing for larger households.
Kendrick Landing also shares a unique partnership with Next Chapter, a local 501(c)(3) nonprofit with a mission to provide a safe and supportive place for pregnant women and single mothers experiencing homelessness in Pierce County.
“We’re happy to partner with organizations in the community like Next Chapter to help provide a safe and supportive place to live for pregnant women, single mothers, and their children,” said Launceford. “We share a common goal, which is to address and overcome the individual barriers to stable housing.”
